The value of editorial recognition depends entirely on whether it means something. A list that can be bought is not a list. It is an advertisement formatted to look like one.
These are the standards we hold ourselves to. They are not aspirational. They describe how decisions are actually made.
The editorial team selects all list inclusions and editorial features independently. Selection for the Powered 500 Global, the Top 25 series, or any other Powered editorial product is based on documented work, demonstrated industry impact, and editorial judgment. It is not influenced by advertising relationships, commercial partnerships, or the purchase of recognition packages.
Where a commercial relationship exists alongside an editorial feature — for example, where a Powered 500 honoree has also purchased a recognition package — that relationship is disclosed on the relevant page.
No one on any Powered editorial list paid to be there.
That is not a disclaimer. It is a statement of fact.
A founder who appears on the Powered 500 because they earned it has received something valuable. A founder who appears because they paid for it has received something worth considerably less — and so has every other name on the list.
We have chosen not to sell that. Every editorial decision we make is made with the understanding that the credibility of the list is the product. The moment we compromise it, the product no longer exists.
If you believe a specific editorial decision was influenced by a commercial relationship, write to hello@poweredmagazine.com. We investigate every report and respond in writing.
