Last Energy has signed PPAs for over 30 GW of modular nuclear before commissioning a single reactor — Kugelmass turned the small-modular-reactor pitch from PowerPoint into the most-contracted nuclear startup of the decade.
Bret Kugelmass founded Last Energy in 2019 to commercialize 20-megawatt modular nuclear reactors that ship via container, sidestepping the multibillion-dollar timelines that have hobbled traditional nuclear.
By 2025 Last Energy had signed PPAs for over 30 gigawatts across Europe and the U.S., placing it among the most-contracted nuclear startups despite remaining pre-revenue.
